mutools is a tiny suite of UNIX utilities. It consists of mue, a small vim-clone with abilities to edit, view, search, find and replace, and some bulk operations. Why use VIM with it's 25+ dependencies if you only use it to do basic editing?

mus is a small shell, and mur is a remote access program. mus and mur might be merged into one to create a shell that will be accessable remotely. This way if you lose connection, the shell is not lost. It also means someone can see exactly what you're seeing on your screen.
